About me
One of my earliest memories is my father with a guitar in his arms and a tambourine at his feet, and my mother next to him sitting on the piano playing Beatles songs.
I began my musical training at age eight with classical piano. At age thirteen, listening Nirvana for the first time I decided that my thing was really the guitar. At age seventeen, I heard “The Free” for the first time, and the basslines of Andy Fraser affected me so much that I did not stop until I was able to play until the last note of their “Fire and Water” album. That’s were my true musical career started. At age twenty I discovered a band that changed my life: Weather Report. From this moment on, my commitment to the bass was almost total. The basslines of Alphonso Johnson and Jaco Pastorius are always with me, as well as my total admiration for Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul. two of the greatest musicians in our history
Although I consider myself to be self-taught, I cannot deny that a large part of what I am as a musician is due to the teachers I’ve had, helping me discover new music, and sharing their technical and musical advice with me. My list of influences is too long to mention but I would like to name a few:
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Weather Report, Nirvana, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Caetano Veloso, The Free, Bob Dylan, Pat Metheny, Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Mike Stern, Milton Nascimiento, James Jameson, Brian Blade, Beethoven, Cannonball Adderley, Dave Holland, Kenny Garret, William Turner, Van Gogh, Gabriel García Márquez, Charles Bukowsky, Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, Charlie Chaplin, and although it sounds like a cliché, my family, my friends and the fellow musicians I have met along the way.
